Dry Cleaning - how it works

 
Dry cleaning cleans clothes without using water. It is not really dry, because it is cleaned with a fluid. People called it dry cleaning because normal cleaning uses water, and this method uses no water...hence the term Dry was born.

Dry Cleaning your clothing takes 5 steps:
  1. Your Garment is tagged.
  2. Your Garment and check for stains and/or spots and pre-treated.
  3. The item is then cleaned
  4. next is a quality check...after this step some items may have to start over at #2.
  5. The Garment is ironed to perfection. Dry Cleaners use large pressing machines that do not leave many cleases or lines on your clothes.
When the Dry Cleaner cleans your clothing, they use a huge machine...some are large enough to hold 50 pounds or more of dry clothing! The washing machines they use clean and dry in the same machine. They use a liquid silicone to clean the clothing, then the solvent is drained (it is actually collected and used again), and the machine then dries the items. Dry Cleaning your clothing can actually be cost effective* for busy people. The time to wash and iron your clothing can take a bit of time, but picking these same items up at a nearby dry cleaners can take a few minutes. My husband is in the military and always gets his dress shirts dry cleaned. Then he keeps them in the plastic, nice and pressed for the next time he has to wear them

* Dry Cleaning costs can vary from business to business or town to town. My personal dry cleaner charges $8 per skirt and $6 per shirt, plus tax.
